28 Nov Cotswold Dry Gin for Christmas
The good ‘old’ G&T is one of the UK’s favourite tipples over the festive season – and what better way to enjoy it than with the award-winning Cotswold Dry Gin (Gold Medal Winner, 2016 World Spirits Competition, San Francisco).
About Cotswold Dry Gin
Consisting of a flavoursome blend of nine carefully selected botanicals, Cotswold Dry Gin is a ‘London Dry-style gin with a twist’. The delectable style and flavour of this gin have been achieved by first of all macerating angelica root, coriander and juniper in the purest of wheat spirits for 12 hours to allow their flavours to fully infuse.
Following this, Cotswold lavender, cardamom seed and peppercorns; bay leaf and fresh lime and grapefruit peel are added to the bespoke Holstein pot still. Finally, the so created aromatic spirit is finished to perfection with Cotswold water (naturally refined).
Cotswold Dry Gin offers a fine nose with fresh grapefruit notes, earthy coriander sweet juniper to back them up. Then, there are some soft black pepper notes followed by just a hint of delicately perfumed Cotswold lavender.
For the palate, it provides a clean flavour of pine-juniper spice with the freshness of grapefruit and a touch of coriander seed. Angelica root offers a hint of dryness, while the bay leaf adds eucalyptus notes, followed by the subtle notes of lavender and lime.
Altogether, Cotswold Dry Gin has a balanced, clean finish of juniper and citrus, with some cooling cardamom and bay leaf notes. It is available from www.cotswoldsdistillery.com at an RRP of £34.95.
I’m not usually a great fan of gin, but I enjoyed my sample of Cotswold Dry Gin tremendously – and am seriously considering getting a bottle for Christmas. If you have a gin lover in your family, this will make the perfect gift for them. Highly recommended.
