The Speyburn 15-year-old
The Speyburn 15-year-old single malt whisky is crafted using the rich, natural elements of Speyside. Having matured in American oak and Spanish oak casks for over a decade, its oozes the richness that a good Whisky should! There are added hints of rich dark chocolate with spicy notes of raisins, zesty citrus fruits and vanilla – perfect for cold winter nights, sipping in front of an open fire. On the palate there are tasting notes of oranges, toffee, vanilla and leather, all wrapped together with a gentle spice. The long-lasting finish has a warming spice which is sweet and creamy. Simply serve on its own with a drop of water!
The Speyburn 15-year-old is available from www.thewhiskeyexchange.com and retails at £58.95.
The Speyburn 10-Year-Old whisky is a popular choice for many whisky enthusiasts. It’s much more affordable, is bold in flavour and is ideal to share amongst family and friends any time of the year! Familiar for its pale gold colour with amber highlights, this whisky is matured in a combination of American oak ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks (what a delightful combination!). There are added hints of toffee, butterscotch and vanilla and a subtle citrus tone, making the 10-year-old an all-round crowd pleaser! I’m not a big whisky drinker, but this is definitely one that I could sit and enjoy drinking!
The Speyburn 10-Year-Old is available from Booths (North of England chain) and selected independent stores. It has a RRP of £32 for a 70cl bottle.
Speyburn Bradan Orach
Speyburn’s Bradan Orach is one of the younger whiskys from Speyburn’s and one that you really should ‘give a go’! Gaelic for ‘Golden Salmon’, the expression was named in honour of the world class salmon fishing found on the River Spey. This is the brightest member of the Speyburn range, notable by its light, golden amber colour. Matured exclusively in American oak ex-bourbon casks, this simple, refreshing and summery expression perfectly combines the subtle flavours of honey and vanilla, with green apple and lemon, resulting in a smooth, creamy and long spicy finish. Personally, the Bradan Orach isn’t one of my favourites, but I’m sure it will tick all the boxes for many a whisky drinker!
Speyburn’s Bradan Orach is available from Sainsbury’s (Scotland only) and selected independent stores. It has a RRP of £27 for a 70cl bottle.
So, no matter what bottle you choose, Speyburn’s will make the most splendid gift for any whisky connoisseur you may know. To have a look the other variants of Whisky available from Speyburn’s, please visit www.speyburn.com
